Grinnell showed some improvement in their two games over the weekend at the Nevada tournament, despite losing both contests. In the first game the Tigers played well, but were ultimately over-matched by a deep Nevada team. The defense for Grinnell was strong. Unfortunately they had a few untimely errors that led to Cubs goals. In the second game Grinnell got off to a great start against Ballard with a fantastic goal from Ivey Schmidt. Isabelle Reding boomed a punt that Ivey tracked down before beating a defender and smashing a shot from the left into the opposite side netting. Ballard responded with a nice goal, though the play started with an arguably missed off-sides call. The rest of the game was back-and-forth. Ballard ultimately finished a chance and was able to hold on for the narrow victory. The Tigers play again on Monday in Boone.
