The Grinnell Tiger had to scramble to find a JV game for Monday night and ended up finding 1A power house Sigourney Keota. The Tigers would get the ball first but wouldn’t be able to capitalize out of the gate. The defense would come out strong and force a stop then the tigers would go to work. Alex Smith would find Brady Steward that would set up a Will Doty rushing score. After a second stop, Smith would find Rhett Nagel who would go 50 yards for a touchdown. The Tiger defense would look better and better as the game went. “It was a new offense our guys hadn’t seen and they came out and made the right reads and did their job.” After a third straight stop, the Tiger offense would drive the field and Smith would find Kirby for a short score. Doty would then get the call again on the Tigers fourth score after being the workhorse running the ball down the field. The last two touchdowns would belong to Kinnick Johnson, one being short and the other a 60 plus yard dash. “Our guys were ready to go. They came out a little sluggish on offense but got things going after our defense had a few stops. Sigourney is a tough team to prepare for and you have to really stay sound on defense and our guys did that. Every guy got in and had some quality playing time. Our last two scores were basically our 9/10 offense which is great to see them drive the ball down the field and score. Everyone played great tonight.”
