The Grinnell girls golf team won a triangular against Norwalk and Knoxville Tuesday night. The Tigers shot a 172 to pick up the win. Norwalk finished 2nd with a 202 and Knoxville had a team score of 229.
Bella Amador-Lacson was the medalist with a 2-over 38. “Bella started her round off with a triple bogey and played the remaining 8 holes 1-under. She did a great job of staying positive after the first hole and not changing her game plan,” said Coach Kivett. “Bella finished with 5 pars and 2 birdies in her round.”
Maddie Schrack was medalist runner-up with a 44. “Maddie struggled the first two holes playing them 5-over but came back after that to play some good golf. She finished with 5 pars and hit her driver well.”
Madison Elliott and Maddy Bolte both shot 45. Both Elliott and Bolte’s round included 1 par and 1 birdie. Maddy shot her best HS career round with that 45. “Maddy keeps improving and gaining confidence. Hopefully we can keep her in the 40’s most of the year.”
Mikayla Hatcher carded a 53. This was also a career best for Mikayla. “Mikayla has improved a ton. She keeps working hard on her game.” Naomi Jackson rounded out the scoring with a 56 which included 1 par.
“We need to keep improving on our short game and not giving away strokes around the green. We talked before the round about finishing the last 2-3 holes better than we have in the past and I thought the girls did a good job with this.”
Next up for the Tigers is a triangular at Benton on Monday. The Tigers have 3 meets next week.
