The Grinnell Boys Soccer Team thrashes Ballard in the 2nd half winning 8-0. This continues the team’s winning streak to 4 straight matches and 3 at home. Kyle Dillon and Calvin Jaworski had poured in the points. Calvin scored the loan, game-winning goal in the first half on a give and go with Kyle. In the 2nd half, the flood gates opened. Jeff Sieck passed the ball to Kyle in the middle of the 18 yard box who took a diagonal touch around his defender and tucked the ball into the lower left corner of the goal. About ten minutes later, Kyle wins a ball at midfield and springs a quick attack by playing a through ball to Calvin who calmly puts the ball in the net. Then 5 minutes later, Brayden Graff dribbles a couple of defenders at the left corner of the 18 and then plays it to Calvin who makes one more pass to Brody Jack who scores the goal. Again 5 minutes later, Matayas Durr throws the ball past midfield where Calvin flicks the ball onto Kyle who is in behind the defense on a breakaway and passes the ball by the goalie. On the 6th goal, Kyle earned his hat-trick by winning the ball back at the top of the box and sliding the ball under the diving goalie’s right arm. Not even a minute later, Calvin receives a pass from Kyle and then cuts the ball to the middle to get it on his right foot and falling down shoots the ball into the lower right corner for his hat-trick. For the 8th and final goal, Calvin’s long throw-in bounced through the opposing team’s defense where Kyle beat the goalie to the ball to tap it in the goal. Matayas earned his 3rd shutout of the season while making double digit saves (11).

The Grinnell Boys JV team also held Ballard off the scoreboard earning Liam Leasure a shutout. Liam had 3 saves in the evening. The game winning goal was scored by Kiran Jones. Brayden Graff hit the left post and the ball bounced directly to Kiran Jones who scored.
