Grinnell Tigers Varsity lost the lead late in a 3-2 defeat to Pella Christian on Monday. The game was tied at two with Pella Christian batting in the top of the fifth when Howeman doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Pella Christian pitchers struck out 15, while Grinnell Tigers Varsity sat down nine.
Grinnell Tigers Varsity opened up an early lead in the second inning when Dembski’s wild pitch allowed one run to score for Grinnell Tigers Varsity.
In the top of the third inning, Pella Christian tied things up at two. Bokhoven grounded out, scoring one run.

Brock Beck went 1-for-3 at the plate to lead Grinnell Tigers Varsity in hits. Grinnell Tigers Varsity was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Colin Gibson made the most plays with eight.
Pella Christian totaled eight hits in the game. Bruxvoort and Jungling all managed multiple hits for Pella Christian. Bruxvoort led Pella Christian with three hits in four at bats.
