Jayden Gibson threw a shutout to lead Grinnell Tigers Varsity past Norwalk 1-0 on Friday.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Gibson struck out 14, while Norwalk pitchers sat down eight.
Grinnell Tigers Varsity fired up the offense in the first inning, when Jake Hull singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
One bright spot for Norwalk was a single by Drew Leek in the fifth inning.
Gibson took the win for Grinnell Tigers Varsity. He went seven innings, allowing zero runs on two hits and striking out 14.
Tucker Christensen took the loss for Norwalk. He lasted four innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out five and walking zero.
Colin Gibson, Owen Coffman, Hull, and Gibson each managed one hit to lead Grinnell Tigers Varsity. Grinnell Tigers Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Gibson had 15 chances in the field, the most on the team.
