The Tiger Volleyball team brought home some hardware last night getting 2nd place at the DesMoines Christian Tournament.
The Tigers went 3 and 1 last night in matches. The first match the Tigers met up with the hosts and eventual tournament champ DesMoines Christian and lost in two sets 12-21 and 8-21. We came out flat in our first match. We didn’t have the vocal energy or physical energy to get us going. We hit negative and had way too many errors in other parts of the game.
Then the Tigers bounced back well sweeping Mt. Ayr in two 21-11 and 21-18. The girls and had their best hitting match of the year so far hitting .205 efficiency with Hope Nelson hitting .400 and Macy Harris hitting .421. We served 92% and had 2.2 serve receive.
The third match against Van Meter saw the Tigers having to fight back hard to come from behind and win in three sets. The Tigers lost the first set 14-21 having too many serve and serve receive errors. The Tigers were down in the second set but kept fighting back including fighting off two match points to come from behind and win 22-20. The third set saw the Tigers get off to a good start and keep a solid lead until Van Meter came roaring back to tie it at 14 and then the Tigers responded and won 16-14. The Tigers showed great composure and determination to win this match while not playing their best volleyball.
To close out the night the Tigers swept Newton 21-11 and 21-18
