The Tigers moved to 6-2 on the season with a 52-14 victory at South Tama Friday night. The win marked consecutive seasons where the Tigers kept the Steve Kriegel Battle for the Helmets trophy. The Tigers racked up 654 yards of total offense; 414 through the air and 240 on the ground. Freshman QB Dallas Sauser piled up 309 yards passing and 4 TD, while junior running back Wyatt Hunter had another big night with 221 yards rushing and 3 TD. 5 different Tigers caught TD passes as Hunter, Cole McGriff, Owen Coffman, Parker Johnson and AJ Wilkins all found the end zone through the air. Defensively the Tigers had their 3rd straight outstanding night on the defensive side of the ball. The Tigers limited South Tama to 184 total yards, including 88 on the ground. Eli Rose led the Tigers with 9 tackles; Matayas Durr had 8 and Wyatt Hunter 6. Owen Coffman also had an interception for the Tigers. The Tigers close out the regular season at home vs. Pella Friday night with an opportunity for a share of a district championship on the line.
