The 2019 Tigers moved to 2-0 with a 30-7 victory over North Polk. A big start led the Tigers as Cole McGriff returned the opening kickoff 91 yards for an early touchdown and a 7-0 lead. The Tiger defense was able to get a quick stop, and on the Tiger’s first play from scrimmage Wyatt Hunter took the handoff 66 yards for a touchdown. The 2 point conversion run by Kyle Dillon led to an early 15-0 lead for the Tigers. The game turned into a defensive struggle for the remainder of the first half as the Tigers led 15-0 at the break. The second half saw the Tigers score an early touchdown on a 30 yard run by Wyatt Hunter to push the score to 22-0. North Polk answered with a touchdown of their own to cut the margin to 22-7. The Tigers answered right back with another drive and a 60 yard scoring run by Hunter, along with a 2 point conversion run by Dillon to make the score 30-7. The Tiger defense was the story of the night, along with outstanding special teams play by Dillon and McGriff handling the kicking and punting duties, respectively. Eli Rose led the Tigers with 16 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery. Wyatt Hunter had 15 tackles and 2 sacks, while Logan Astelle chipped in with 10 tackles. Hunter led the Tigers on offense with another outstanding night running the football with 18 carries for 214 yards and 3 touchdowns. The 2-0 Tigers head back on the road next Friday against ADM.
